Initially as an assistant manager then holding manager overseeing the day to day operations of a restaurant and bar in Kilmarnock. Stock control staffing recruitment consumables control wages payroll cooking serving waiting bar work meet and greet. Adhering to and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and keeping the business operational
It was more a rehoning of preexisting skills that I had developed over a long period of working in this sector the training was comprehensive and applicable to what I was doing in my day to day working life and also the trianer was a valuable part of the process
The program itself was straight forward and largely enjoyable there were some conflicts with schedules through no fault of the trianer or myself and we often managed to find a work around to allow us to do the required visit. The core work was relatively easy to understand and produce for inspection
It was very relevant and applicable to what I am no doing, what I was doing at the time and what I have done previously. The flexibility of the modules helped and being able to tailor your training was a big factor in the ability to do the tasks at hand
Unfortunately I didn't receive an awful amount of support due to my gm leaving and the pub being given to me in the interim. However my previous experiences helped enormously and the trianer wa always available should I need him to support me in some fashion. The over all company didn't play a role in this process
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was a big support during his visits and we would frequently talk about where I was with the course what I needed to do next and how to achieve it. Even when our schedules clashed he never gave up or allowed me to give up on achieving this qualification
It enables me to have another prevervial string to my bow as well as another qualification for my cv. Having worked in the se toe for along time alot of the information wasn't new but did need a little refresher in my mind to bring it back to the surface
Not per sey we don't run anything through the venue and being a family man I wouldn't have ahsd alot of time to take up and additional extra curricula activities but had ait been 15 years ago that may well jot have been the case. The company does however have other actitivites for staff
Yes
The support and environment is very good there is a whole world of trianingg materials that will help you develop and learn and ultimately reach your final goal what ever that may be. I joined as an am and currently am a dgm with a view of becoming a gm at some point in he future
Make sure your role is the right fit for you. Some people enjoy certain aspects of certain roles but not everyone is cut out to work in this sector, try them all see where you fit best and don't be afraid to say. Take advantage of the help support and training when it's offered
