  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis I work on the SD side Service delivery for Openreach installing and servicing copper phone lines. This includes new provisions and FTTC internet to repair work solving issues with peoples phone lines . which can be anything from a small disconnection to a complete refitting of there phone line

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot of new skills about health and safety to start with safe working practices . Then the technical skill there is a raft of them from basic wiring to how to wire a NTE to jumpering up an exchange .To how trace and find faults in the copper network and smart working skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Mostly not all learning has an enjoyment factor to it but as a whole I do enjoy my NVQ journey sometimes it can be a little stressful though not in a bad way !!! . The point of it is to be able to progress with in my chosen field and move into the fields that interest me more .

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very Well structured given the restraints of the industry . Most of the course is well laid out in a logical order and functional fashion with the minimum of disruption to our working days . I am not sure weather it could be done any better unless compiled into an intensive course at the end of our year

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I seam to get a reasonable amount of support given that it is fitted around a busy work days . Though if something is missed it can be fairly hard to get it sorted out

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A fair amount of help is given within the course in the apprenticeship its a little harder to get your manager to give you the help you need

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • To be honest it is just reinforcing what I have already done and some of it I am not sure of the relevance of some parts

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that I have come across yet but I have not been on long enough to be able to get involved

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they are a good company to work for and good prospects with a little hard work


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Just apply your self and be the best you can try to get with people and its an easy company to work for
