  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role is to repair and install peoples phones and internet you would get sent your jobs in the morning and plan you day around your jobs and you would have to run tests and checks on the line that you are working on making sure they are working to company standard

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am forever learning new skills involved within my job and i'm always looking for experience and expertpertise from other more experience engineers and will always double check if I am unsure of what I am doing I have lots of buddies and more engineers if I am stuck I can call and ask for advice

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy getting up and going to work every day because im not always working in the same location everyday and im learning new things everyday I enjoy working on my NVQ work as it shows the detail in the work that I am doing and learning showing by writing everything up

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I know in advance as to when my days are and the work that needs to be done so that I can keep up to date with my course and making sure I am not falling behind and I can even get ahead and when the day comes I can get ahead even more for further study days

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive the required support needed from my employer and if I need any more support I know it is there if needed more support my employer gives me the days off for my study days and helps with the required documents and information needed to complete the course on time and in the correct way

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • the training provider is always there if I need to know any information of I am stuck on any of the modules that I am working on I always get an email week before my study days reminding me of the required documents and information that is required for me to complete the days

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification helps me preform better within my role as I am sitting back and having to think about my job and the roles that I do giving me a better understanding and I think I can speak with other engineers and pass on our experiences to help each others out

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I haven't been on long with the company but I do know that another engineer is arranging for us to meet up on Tuesdays to play football and have a kick about also on work place there is another engineer that is in the process of arranging getting people together for rugby

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have already recommended for several of my friends to apply for openreach and they are in the middle of progressing through the application I have explained that you always meeting new people everyday when turning up at customers houses and even when in the street and member of the public stop and talk to you


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • be ready for an adventure and meeting and making some great friends along the way be ready to share experiences and make some good memory's with other engineers and customers and helping get them back in to service on the day or put the process in place for us to be able to repair
