  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Junior reporter in the newsroom on rotation around different teams. Day to day I will work on stories, wraps and research that I find or am given to work on. Work with a larger team of experienced reporters and editors who support my learning. Will sometimes go out to conferences and meetings with sources and contacts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Skills in time management, improving my writing ability, training on reporting news, training on financial markets, developing my news judgement. Project management skills including planning, pitching ideas, budgets, quality management, schedule management . Has improved my confidence in pitching and presenting. Built knowledge in reporting and communication, investigative skills and interview techniques.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Program is interesting and challenging, company expects high standards from you but will support you and help you however is necessary. The environment at work is welcoming and supportive. Managers are willing to support you with apprenticeship work how you need and want you to do well. Exceeds expectations and i thoroughly enjoy.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured, learning incorporated into work well. Plenty of training opportunities to improve skills and abilities. Supported by managers and colleagues with apprenticeship. If asked for, given ample time to study for apprenticeship and doing assignments. Within the role, are given a mentor to support you and have regular meetings with team leaders.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very supported, always have plenty of time for me to help with any issues or concerns i have. Always willing to give advice, support, guidance and resolve issues. Have been assigned Mentors within the news room and team leaders always ready to give advice. Support is very accessible .

  • Whitehat provided training is of a high and consistent standard, teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful when contacted for support.   • The qualification does not always apply specifically to my role, some of the information and learning takes a bit of re framing to apply to my role. Some of the more general skills are very helpful and useful for my skills and abilities as an employee. overall satisfied with the course

  • Yes there is. Can get involved in Bloomberg Philanthropies doing charity work. There is many organisation and communities to get involved with within the company as well.   • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg?
  • Be confident, read up on the company and the role you are applying for, think about the job and why you want it, prepare to present your skills and abilities, come prepared to the interview, dont stress too much, and relax. Make an effort with everyone you meet because they will all influence whether you get hired
