1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in power stations installing steel wire armour cables to supply power to various panels and accessories. I also install trucking and conduit.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to make of glands, manufacture containment, install electrical accessories and have developed my outlook on safety culture.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thought I got a well rounded experience in how to become an electrician and was given help when I needed it. I enjoyed it for the most part.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is times when we dont have much to do but on the whole we stay fairly busy. College is well structured and we are given plenty site experience at work.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recieved enough support and learning to gain the skills I needed.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider, perth college UHI which is not in the drop down list, gave me an excellent experience. I couldn't have asked for better.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

They provided lots of technical knowledge along with tips and tricks of the trade to perform better at work.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are not any that I have been made aware of.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?

Incorporate safety culture into everything you do. Safety is the number 1 priority.
