  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I update vehicle documentation and update spreadsheets with financial figures and data. I GRN invoices from work done on vehicles in order for them to be payed on time. I also assist in helping Highways England by sending them fuel figures within a spreadsheet. I also set new/current employees up on our "Checked Safe" system so they are able to undertake vehicle checks before using a vehicle.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In my opinion, my programme is very well structured, no day is the same at Kier and I have aligned my tasks to a timetable to ensure so. I have set certain days for certain tasks so therefore I ensure I have a suitable amount of time for different tasks so I am not overloading it in all one day. I also like the fact there is a college day as the work done there aids my work within the work place.

  • I feel my qualification from the college is helping me perform better within my role as it gives me a further understanding of the procedures and systems within a workplace and workforce which therefore enables me to put this into perspective and practice in the workplace. • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within Kier, I don't believe that there are currently any sports teams that are available to become a part of. • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel so far within my apprenticeship, Kier have really brought the best out in me skills wise and significantly improved my confidence. Everyone here makes you feel so welcome due to them being so friendly and I feel like I can go and speak to anybody for any help.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
  • The advice I would give to an individual applying to Kier Group is to try and be as confident as you can, always smile and be willing to always help and go the extra mile. The interview process at Kier was relatively long compared to other organisations that I had experienced within the past as there were 3 stages - a telephone interview, an assessment day at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Birmingham and finally an interview within the workplace. Make sure you have a good understand of Kier and what they do as this will be useful within the interview process.
