  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Each day I am involved in a software engineering tasks, and I am given the opportunity to choose tasks to take on that I believe I can tackle according to my ability, with a member of the team assisting me with any issues.

  • I have developed my team working skills significantly, as well as my confidence in being able to take on challenging tasks and speak to an audience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working with Bloomberg as I believe it enables me to progress my skills a lot faster than that of a normal university student would. It also enables me to stay engaged in the areas of work at all times, even out of term time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Initially, the boarding process was not as smooth as hoped but was understandable for the first year of apprentices. Overall, it is very well organised with being involved directly in a team and being able to participate in both individual and collaborative work tasks.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Any issues that I have encountered in my time with the employer has been handled greatly by the employer and they have supported me significantly to ensure that I have the best knowledge and experience of the industry to transfer to my university work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • For each module, there is a question and answer section where all students can see and ask questions with relatively fast responses from lecturers as well as many sessions for feedback and assessments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification has enabled me to acquire a wider scope of the industry and ensure that I have the depth in knowledge and skills to perform to my best potential in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a few events from time to time as well as many networking channels to browse, however, there is not much advertisement or availability for regular social activities such as sports clubs.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The treatment and experience I have had in my time so far at Bloomberg has been fantastic, the opportunity I have been given is great and gives me very high hopes for the future. Also, I am a lot more involved in the work than other apprentices at other companies.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg?
  • 1. There is no need to be nervous as Bloomberg has a very positive and supportive atmosphere and environment. 2. Ensure that your team and the work you have been placed in is right for you. 3. Be yourself and relax, showing your skills and potential will aid you significantly.
