  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my day to day role at ASM, I build different sub assemblies such as; APC Systems, which clamp and snug boards for different purposes. Also in my day to day role, I build conveyors for TRS machines. These conveyors allow for printing multiple printing circuit boards, up to three at a time.

  • Support from my training provider, Weymouth College, has been fantastic, although I have only been seen by Dean Spearing. • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My work place at ASM Assembly Systems offers a plethora of extra-curricular activities such as, weekly football meets, sports and social groups, staff forum. The company also offer rambling groups, days out to theatres and shopping trips; these would be organised through out the year at different times and are seasonal dependant.

  • 9a. Would you recommend ASM Assembly Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this company to a friend, on the proviso they had a full time contract as that offers you more opportunity and a chance to grow in the industry. This company however fails at looking after their staff on rolling year to year contracts, so it's not a cut and dry answer.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ASM Assembly Systems?
  • Advice I would give to any willing applicant, is check to see if it is a full time permanent contract. I feel on a temporary contract this place is not a place that will nurture you, however on a permanent contract they would be more willing. A positive attitude and a can do, "yes man" attitude will get you far in this place
