  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • IT consultant working on data analytics based projects. this includes report creation and data transformation. I work away from home 99% of the time as am required on different client sites. I have started to perform more project lead roles as well which sees me manage a team to deliver requirements set by the client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many different skills throughout the project both at work and at university. The modules of the degree contained content which aided my day to day work such as project management, organisation skills and general project practices. Both have given me much more confidence, particularly when presenting to an audience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my program. It has not been easy at all, it has been very demanding at times when busy on a project whilst trying to study at the same time. But with this comes great reward and the sense of achievement once it was completed was fantastic.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program was very well organised. I always knew what was expected of me, what modules I was doing and what time frames I had. Some modules were better organised than others as some didn't always have detailed timetables which I would have liked. But as a whole the program was very well organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a good amount of support from my employer throughout. There was a good apprentice community who supported each other and were there for each other. I didn't always take advantage of the support that was available but if I had needed it then the channels of support were there.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a good amount of support from the university. Some modules were more supported than others which depended on the module leader. Some were available to talk frequently whereas some had to be emailed and wouldn't respond for a few days. The university as a whole was very supportive of the students.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification has helped me perform better. The content which I learnt on many of the modules are put in to practice on a daily basis. Having a degree behind me as well is a great comfort as it opens a lot of options if I want to change career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are usually a lot of activities to take part in with my job. Depending on the project that I am on there are usually a group of people staying away from home so they tend to do different activities in the evenings rather than staying in a hotel room. It is up to me if I want to join or not but the option is usually there.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would highly recommend the apprenticeship scheme to anyone who asked. Although it is a lot of work when based on busy projects. However, the benefits are fantastic, getting a degree with no debt, getting paid and 5 years work experience is a fantastic position to be in. Capgemini is a good employer as well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Any one who is applying should take note that the apprenticeship scheme is hard with a high work load. You need to be prepared to work late, give up evenings and weekends to study if you want to be successful. But if you are willing to do that then you will do well and get the benefits.
