  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is all about planning the strategic direction for a destination across multiple seasons - from deciding what the right product for our customer and destination is to the initial pricing of these packages. I work with multiple different teams across the Commercial division and regularly work on smaller projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My apprenticeship has not only given me a qualification in business and professional administration but has also helped increase my personal and professional skills. I have been given so many development opportunities whilst on the scheme from improving my presentation skills to increasing my commercial knowledge, all of which have enabled me to complete my role efficiently. I have also attended countless internal training courses which have helped me develop as a person.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my time on the programme, from the team to the actual work I do on a daily basis. No day is the same in the Product department and because it is full of like-minded people there is always a very positive and friendly office atmosphere. The scheme has exceeded my expectations.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is well structured, you initially have a welcome day to meet everyone, and then when you formally start you are given a 3 week induction programme full of training on systems and learning how to do the fundamentals of the role. Once these 3 weeks are over, there is a full network of support to help you fulfill your role, ranging from a buddy, to your line manager.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received strong support throughout my time at TUI, I have had support from those on the scheme and those running the scheme, as well as my colleagues and managers off the scheme. There is a real culture of support here and if you need help there will always be someone available to give you it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor was always available to support me with my programme when I needed it, they were highly accessible whether that was through phone calls or emails, or face to face meetings, and no question was ever too much for them. They were always happy to help and gave good guidance and resources when required.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helped me with my day to day role as all the units and criteria were relevant to what I do, I was always able to link my written assignments back to tasks and projects I have done during my job, and writing these assignments helped me solidify the knowledge I had learnt during my usual work. It has also helped me with my projects I have been involved in e.g. my yellow belt project for continuous improvement.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always extra curricular activities going on at TUI, within the Commercial division we have a dedicated team who plan social events, we have had things like rounders events, charity bake offs, movie nights, walking clubs etc all set up for people to attend if they wish outside of work hours. We also have formal events such as Summer parties and Christmas parties. Some times we also have things going on in the office day to day as little surprises e.g. during the summer months we were treated to cool drinks and snacks that were bought around the office on Airplane trollies.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • TUI has been a great company to work for, full of like-minded people and full of opportunities to take your career further, whilst also developing your personal self too. There is a great office atmosphere and there are always things being done to increase team engagement and ensure it's a great place to work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • The main tip I would give is to just go for it, it's a great place and if given the opportunity I would just go for it. The application process can be long but it is worthwhile. It is such a big company full of so many opportunities to grow both as a person and within the role.
