  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a fibre engineer. This involves travelling all over Essex and surrounding areas installing fibre equipment to houses and businesses. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my working programme so much. This is the first job I can honestly say that I always enjoy coming to work. I have not once woken up and dreaded coming to work. Everyday is a different challenge and that's what makes it so interesting. Everyday is different and that's what excites me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The content of my programme is very good and the structure is ok. I have encounter problems with NVQ days such as not starting my study days until 5 months in to my program and also my NVQ day study rooms being very unorganised. This has meant on occasions our group as been spread across 3 rooms and days have been cancelled and re planned at the last minute. This means as I coming to the end of my programme they are trying to cram all the remaining days in.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I must say that in this job I have received the most support and guidance from my manager over any other job I have had. He is always ringing around and making sure everything is ok and if you contact him he always gets back to you or answers the phone straight away.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider or our assessor who sits in and our NVQ days is good. He always response to your emails and he is regularly checking your working and contacting you advising you what to do. On the NVQ he is always there to help and support you with the work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • To be completely honest the qualification does not really support my role. it is a relevant qualification however it does not give any knowledge on your role. it is just a general overview and the telecoms world. It does not specify on the roles so I would say that it does not support my role at all.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There has been many extra-curricular activities to get involved in. mainly professional networking events that take place very regularly. However our team is very social and we do a few social activities together. I would like there to be more sports teams within our work however I have yet to find any.
