  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day to day basis includes many different task from things such as concreting and steel fixing. I also do tasks such as hand digging and helping clean up around the site, all of this is the help me progress with my apprenticeship. My role is more involved around working on my feet all day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills when since working on site. I also work with a lot of different people who can all show me new skills. I have improved massively with my social skills while working on site as I am speaking to people all day to find out my different tasks I am doing for the day. My teamwork skills have also improved since working on site.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working on site and the day I go into college, I have made a lot of new friends whilst learning to work in the construction industry. I have gained a lot more confidence in working on my own and with others. Every day is made fun whilst working and learning new skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am on is very well set up. All the personal equipment I need is all provided from working on site with all my protective equipment. I also get a laptop provided for when I go to college I can take this home so I can carry on my work if I don't get it all finished in class.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive all the help I need from my employer I can ask them anything and are confident they will be able to provide what I need or help me to the best they can. They are always checking on me to make sure everything is ok and that I am still enjoying the course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive all the help I need from my training provided my tutor is always pushing me to get finished what I need and make sure my work and knowledge is up the standard it needs to be at. The work standard is a high volume of work and it is made a lot easier with the help of my tutor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification helps massively with my progress as what I learn on site I can physically do the work and see how it is done. When I am at college I can learn how it works and understand everything about the tasks I am doing on site. It helps improve my work a lot.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The company I work for will help support you in any kind of charity events you are doing outside of work. They also have a football games that staff can participate in. You can also get a on a push bike scheme where you pay weekly for a bike and they will provide the bike.

  • 9a. Would you recommend JN Bentley to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a good reliable company that will help you all the time you are working for them. They will also put you on training courses to help you progress with learning new skills and better yourself on site and in college. There are also many benefits of working here such as a bonus twice a year.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
  • Make sure you are up for work and are willing to work hard and the befits will come. To be ready to work in a team. Don't be arrogant. There are many opportunities going forward in the company and the right attitude will help you. You gain lots of experience while earning a wage with all the help you need.
