  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Being able to learn on the job and manage enterprise systems as a valued member of the team is the greatest opportunity ever given to me. Being responsible and trusted on these services, makes me feel valued and even when my knowledge is limited, my peers are always there to support.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am always learning new valuable skills every day in my role as a Software Engineer. By putting my self forward and out of my comfort zone, I have also gained interest in these new skills that I never would have thought about prior to doing my Apprenticeship. My peers are also always supportive for me to learn new skills, even if it doesn't match my job role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Being in a role that required no experience when starting meant that my peers had no expectations and the world is my oyster with the ability to control my own career. Being able to learn new skills but also take on opportunities outside my role made it a lot more enjoyable and beneficial to my future in the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I was given a timetable for the entire program and the timetable had all the information about what I will be doing throughout the program. It was easy to know what I will be doing and when which made it very easy to balance the apprenticeship program and my job together.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From day one I was assigned a mentor which means there is always someone I can go to for support. Failing that, the program manager is very approachable and always willing to support and find solutions to any problems that I was facing at the time. My employer also supported me with any additional support/training.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From the start of my program I was assigned to an assessor from my training provider that introduced themselves to me straight away and have been very approachable with any concerns that I have. I also met up with my assessor every 6 weeks for a review where we went into detail about everything to do with my progression in my role and apprenticeship. They also provided me with training throughout the program in addition to the on the job training that I received.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training helped me to better understand the things I was being taught in the work place. It also meant that I was prepared with some knowledge further in my progression in the team. Without the training I would have struggled so I am glad that there was training provided outside of my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a program set up called GAP Connect which is manned by apprentices across the business. This is centered around providing support to new apprentices and they also help facilitate extra-curricular activities for all apprentice's to be able to better connect and network with each other across the whole business which is very important considering we are spread across the country.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Capgemini are passionate about their employees and you are treated as a valued member of the team as soon as you step into the business. Being paid whilst gaining qualifications is the best of both worlds and you will be supported every step of the way. Doing an apprenticeship is the best decision I have ever made.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be confident on what you do know and always be willing to learn, even if it isn't of your interest. Capgemini do not expect you to have tons of experience but by being someone that is always wanting to learn, always asking questions and stepping out of your comfort zone, will get you far.
