  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The main daily tasks would consist of calling HMRC regarding clients tax issues and liaising with them to solve problems. I also do a lot of risk in regards to clients, so making Engagement Letters, Anti-Money Laundering and other. There are many projects, where I usually come in to make the actual report structure and make sure everything is up to standard.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Induction was great and we got to know many people of similar grades and more senior people. We also had a lot of training which was a good way to introducing us to tax and helping us to be more comfortable at work. The programme is very well organised and there are many opportunities to seek.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get a lot of support from both, senior and junior staff. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help and support. We have specific people we can talk to if there are any issues such as 'Buddy' or your 'People Manager'. The general attitude is positive and I feel like I can talk about my issues bot in and out of work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get a few days of college where we learn a lot of content in a very short amount of time, so it is sometimes hard to take information on board and remember anything past lunch time but we get plenty of resources online and on paper to make us pass. You can contact your tutor for any queries. You must put in a lot of time to be comfortable with the content.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I'm learning a lot of tax which is specifically the sector I work in so a lot of stuff I learn I will use at work. I have done Personal Tax exam which is not really the type of tax I would be working with but it still has helped me to be much more confident at work as some of the information applies.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many company events in and out of work, giving a good opportunity to network and get to know people. I have also been to a client meeting recently where we went bowling and had dinner. This was a great event. There are opportunities to do volunteering and I have done a day where I went to a local park to tidy it up.
