  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves maintaining and creating infrastructure around us by doing this I set out points in areas that my colleagues can work to, I also set up equipment such as total stations, 360 degree lasers and other different surveying equipment to ensure that my colleagues work to the correct height, gradient and dimensions. To meet the criteria of the job. My role also involves office work to help with risk assessments, RAMS, and to maintain health and safety on site

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt Many new skills before coming to Bentleys I was very Raw in construction, having being here 7 months now I've developed skills many skills such has communication has I speak to new people each day about jobs and task, also developed my skill of team working, time management, commercial awareness and I've got more hands on capability I can handle different tasks that are thrown at me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme Bentleys have set up because being on site allows for good socialising with new people that help me to develop. I enjoy the hands on feel of the programme whilst going to my learning provider one day a week. But overall its nice to be earning whilst learning and working.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured my employee JN Bentley set us goals to reach each month regarding time on site and in office. We attend college one day a week with our learning provider where lessons are thoroughly planned out and deadlines are set to be met each week. We also have 1 to 1 reviews with our line manager and our college teacher to assess how we can become better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from JN Bentley is amazing we are looked after wherever it may be with colleagues that have years of experience. We receive calls monthly seeing how were getting on as well as reviews with our line manager. We can contract employees in Bentleys whenever we want to query things and get a better understanding on our college and development as well as our role.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a lot from our training provider we are given regular feedback on work which we have handed in to see where we are going wrong or where its going well. We also have monthly reviews where our training provider puts together a document to look at our progress and what we have achieved in a month.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have learnt a lot through my training provider before coming on site I had a good knowledge of what to expect. I had a good knowledge of the maths I use on site in order to get through my job I also learnt about a lot of plant and equipment and the different construction procedures regarding trenches and concrete etc.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, this is one thing Bentleys is big on is welfare. Bentleys is always planning activities after work to boost team morale and teamwork. I have played in many football games after work, had many social meetings outside of work to catch a glimpse of my colleagues outside of work and we also have engineering meetings each month where we get together and can talk to one another to gain new experience.

  • Yes

  • Yes, certainly Bentley's is a great company they look after you in everything you do and support you throughout your work. The staff are nice and genuine and will do anything to enhance your learning and provide a good step up to the top of the ladder to ensure you can meet your full potential.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
  • I would give the advice of to work has hard as you can to get results and put has much effort in has you can to obtain a substantial amount of information about the company so you know the ins and outs of the company. Just to try your hardest because if you get the job you won't regret it.
