  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love it. I get to work on a variety of tasks whilst also attending University for a week at a time to complete the Data Analyst course. My company have been extremely and supportive and generous in helping me complete my apprenticeship program. They: - Provide new learning opportunities by setting a variety of tasks - Assist with helping me meet certain competencies if they know it's an area I need to work on - Pay for my travel, accomodation and food whilst I'm away at University training

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the structure of the programme is extremely well laid out from the University as we have a detailed timeline of when we are to complete various components of the apprenticeship programme. On the other hand, our company does not have a specific structure in place for the training of new apprentices and is more of "train as the opportunity arises" Overall, cannot complain as we are given time within work hours to complete anything required of us from the apprenticeship (End point assessment, Learning Log, University coursework etc)

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I'm very lucky to have a mentor who is entirely supportive of me in my role as an apprentice. My mentor will include me in anything she believes is necessary towards my development (such as high level meetings). My mentor is also extremely helpful when it comes to helping with tasks too as she is vastly experienced. My manager and mentorf together set up regular meetings to assess my progression to ensure i'm meeting the compentencies set from the programme and to be able to provide me any further opportunities

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Plenty. The teaching staff are very knowledgable and helpful whenever you need help with anything. They are also accessible via email and sometimes throughout the day to answer any questions regarding the course/coursework. There's plenty of resources available to you too as a student of the University, such as: Library and Linda.com. Definitely worth making use of while you can

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification we are working towards is mostly appropriate towards the role I am working in/towards. I believe it provides a strong foundation for me to be able to build my knowledge and understanding on as you get taught the theories and do some practical work on what you've learnt

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have become a member of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) which my company have been generous to fund the membership. Our team do run offsite days which is more social such as: Cricket, New Forrest Camping however this is more team building than extra curricular. I've also been invited to represent the apprentices for my company at the SCTE awards ceremony

  • 9a. Would you recommend Virgin Media O2 to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe it's a strong and successful company to work for with many perks and benefits as a reward. They have been more than supportive to me and my role and in my specific area, everyone has been enjoyable to work with. I wouldn't change it at all

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • Build your understanding of the telecomms industry before joining, read online articles and watch videos about it. You might not necessarily be asked anything about it during your interview however it really helps once you've got your foot in the door. Be prepared to practice a variety of skills once you're in!
