  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am joining TO-30 Quality Steering department, my daily tasks include managing a live database of quality issues, allocating problem ownership and ensuring a timely resolution to quality issues raised.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am participating in two concurrent qualifications a level 3 NVQ and a level 3 BTEC and I am studying at Swindon College, during this course I have had to re-teach myself a lot of learning skills but I have maintained my enthusiasm and motivation and I am focused on doing well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed being part of the BMW group and working with a team of people at college and work, the people I work with have been extremely helpful and totally exceeded my expectations.

  • I feel valued by the BMW group because the work I do on a daily basis resolves quality issues.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured placement plans are reviewed on a regular basis, I had an induction when I joined my department on site; I meet regularly with my training manager to resolve any issues. The training I am recieving is to a high standard and is well structured.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have recieved fantastic support from the training provider, at the start of the programme we had issues with particular lecturers but the college has done a great job in resolving these issues; all of the lecturers now have our best interest in mind and are helpful and friendly.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve support in terms of regular liasons with my training manager to resolve any issues I may have, my training manager has assisted me with all formal procedures.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Unfortunately this would be my only gripe, I am 22 years old, I am a home-owner and a new parent, if my partner did not work I would not be able to sustain my lifestyle, as an apprentice wage the rate is very competative; im sure as a school leaver that lives at home it is suficient but unfortunately it does not meet my needs

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have been luchy enough to participate in a company event called the mountain challenge; this is an orienteering challange and consisted of walking 30 miles around the Yorkshire dales in a single day. I also recieve a discounted gym membership because I am a student.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BMW is a fantastic company to work for, there are opportunities to work in a vast range of engineering fields and the company will push apprentices to achieve as much as they possibly can.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • It is never too late to train! as an older apprentice I can appreciate that it is never too late to learn, The best advice I can give in regards to applications and assessments is to apply yourself and be yourself.
