My role includes receiving requests from people across the business. requests can range from buying a new laptop bundle for a new starter, buying all the IT infrastructure kit for a new out base on the other side of the country or diagnosing issues with phones which i will ensure get repaired
I have developed my interpersonal skills mostly. As this is my first job, it has been a big hurdle to overcome working in an office facility where i must communicate often and effectively with multiple people and multiple departments to make sure i can purchase the kit they need without an issue.
I have enjoyed the different day to day tasks as they display different challenges on a very regular basis. Also i have a bit of a passion for IT, so this role fits me very well. Also with my role I have an array of responsibilities that must be completed.
After getting off to a slow start with my apprenticeship provider. I completed the second half of my apprenticeship within 2 months with s lot of hard work by both me and my new assessor. As i've started a new course now, i have not had any issues yet.
At AO, we have weekly one to ones with our line manager, and around monthly one to ones with our learning and development point of contact. Also if i was to have any issues i could speak to multiple people as i am part of the 6th wave of apprentices
At the beginning, we had a few issues with our provider. But after a 'reshuffle' and receiving a new assessor, we had a structure in place after just one session. After this, i completed the rest of my course in very little time with little stress and i could reach out for my assessor at any time
My course was a level 4 in Business Administration and my course helped me develop skills such as basic Legislation's that fit in with IT, also basic things such as developing & delivering a presentation and creating an effective email. There was also units on databases which helped immensely with my role.
There are lots of extra curricular activities where i work, ranging from Badminton to LAN parties playing games like PUBG & Counter strike (CSgo) . playing I commonly play football on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays most weeks, also we have the chance to go to any additional training, costs covered by work
Yes
At my age, a lot of my friends would want an apprenticeship and at AO you recieve support as well as a structure that can help you foresee your future in the business. On top of this, AO have had multiple waves of apprentices prior who you can seek assistance from
Be open minded and flexible, be willing to try new things and go outside your comfort zone because it will be likely that you're being asked to do a certain task to benefit yourself. Also they are there to help you every step along the way, no matter the issue.
