  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On mondays we intend a college day which is on site at the apprenticeship, through the rest of the week. At the moement we are learning the foundations of engineering knowledge so that we can gain the neccecary qualifications to work safetly next year in the plant, we work 37.5 hours a week.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Ive learnt so many skills so far this year such as how to correctly wire PCB circuit boards, Machining (Milling & Lathes), PLC's, Welding ,basic handfitting skills and how mechanical robotics. Ive really enjoyed learning so far and my learning hasent stopped here ive learnt a lot of useful life skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, the tutors, the other apprentices and management are a high calibare of people. I look forward to every day of work and any issues i have i can speak ot management and so far any issue i have raised has had a reasonable outcome from the situation

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Most of the apprenticeship is highly organised and the internal elements such as the college ect are well structures however i think there could be more communication between the college and BMW group, sometimes situations lack organisation which can lead to more issues. Overall i am happy with the organisation

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recive adequate support from my employer, if i raise an issue i am confident the issue will be dealt with many of my collegues feel the same. I havent had a serious issue at home like that but if i was i feel i would get supported through the situation

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are always supported in terms of qualifications, i havent yet run into any issues needing to support but it is clear to us that if we ask for the help and willing to work for it then we would be supported with private tutorship and other benefits to help us

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This is hard for me to answer the question in peronal terms because i dont start my acutal job till the second year however ive spoke to older apprentices and they say there qualifications are vital for getting where they wanted to b, so i would say they help the apprentice

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do lots of extra curricular activities in BMW group such as recuitment, apprentice football team,Mountain challenge and charity fund raising activities. I really enjoy seeing the other apprentices outside of work as it brings us together as group which can be applied to getting more efficent results in the workshop

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have a brand new M sport shadow 1 series on the way and im 19 years old, money isnt eveyrthing but what a perk! in terms of long term your going ot have aminimum of 4 years of BMW Group Manufacturing to put on your CV, thats impossibly hard to rival


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • You will need a problem solving mindset that can work well under pressure while effectively managing a team. The interview you need to be honest and try and sell your self to managment. I wish anyone who applied good luck when applying for BMW group and hopefully see you soon.
