  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily roles include setting up the pub and opening to the public. Making sure that every stage of the guest journey is the best it can be from walking in through the front to receiving your meal to the farewell. This is achieved through checking everything is clean and ready to go and ensuring all team are briefed on what is expected for the day ahead.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Skills I have developed are my leadership qualities through on the job training, online training and through various workshops. I have also learnt how to be assertive in the right way. My personal skills that I have developed are my confidence through talking to guest and leading a team. I have also developed my ability to read situations and take a calm logical approach that isn’t detrimental to the business or guest experience

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship because it gives me the chance to still learn whilst I am moving up the roles throughout greeneking. When I first started for Greeneking I had just finished 6th form and was not sure that I wanted to do career wise. Then I found out I could start an apprenticeship while I was unsure on what I wanted to do in which that time I had realised I really enjoyed my work and the experiences that come with it. I therefore carried on with the company and have already completed 2 apprenticeships and plan on completing another 2-3 which will give me the experience and knowledge I need to progress within the company and gives me the knowledge to pass on to my team.
