  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • General manager Day to day running of the business including dealing with team members rotas stocks ordering, cash and the public. Serving on the bar in the restaurant cooking food and cleaning bedrooms. Dealing with customers on the phone taking bookings for bedrooms and tables. Using email communication and social media

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have improved my skills in filing, meeting minutes including how to run a meeting efficiently and take proper minutes. I also learned a lot about the market place and business e.g. b2b and market places. I have used these skills already in business plans and other tasks

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much so I have learnt many new skills and really liked my trainer he was very helpful. It has made me realise I am ready for the next level of education and that I can manage my work and life balance to ensure I have enough time to study

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very structured my tutor was really helpful and kept me motivated and on track and I felt the lay out was good and fuse the online source system is fantastic and easy to use. I would recommend to anyone doing a level 3 like I have as I found it easy and very useful in my day to day work

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 100% support in fact they pushed me on to a course that was being removed shortly after I enrolled so I could gain the qualification I wanted as I didn't want to be pigeon holed on to hospitality and felt business admin was a more well rounded qualification and my area manager supported me in this

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support he was fantastical and kept me really motivated and on track and was very clear of his expectations he was also very detailed on his feedback and very reliable with his visits. I found him very professional and helpful and also very approachable which I think is important

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very much so I have 're done my entire way of working from holding and presenting meetings and briefings to the way I cioe and communicate in email and social media form. I have found all of the information very useful and would definitely recommend it to anyone in my role

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not really but as a general manage you can get involved in the local community and get involved in local events we also hold and host networking events which is good as you can work and meet new contacts at the same time which is fab as we are also so close to our head office

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have worked for Greene king for 13 years and have always found them well structured and good to work for I have head a game of area managers whom I have always got a long with and also find the head office staff really helpful too I would recommend it


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Be prepared to work evenings and weekends! It's a great company but working in hotels and pubs is always going to be an antiviral working Rota you need to be r Prepared to work evenings and weekends and bank holidays including Christmas as these are the busiest times for us
