My role entails a number of job roles. The roles included are serving alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, making coffees, serving food, maintaining a clean and friendly environment. As well as this, I occasionally cook when necessary and work on the pass as well as doing expo. Cleaning is also a big part of the role both during the day and at closing time.
I would say I have learnt a huge amount of transferable skills during my job at greene king. Before working in hospitality, I was very shy and lacked confidence, however now I am very confident and enjoy speaking to new people. As well as this I have developed a very vast knowledge of alcoholic beverages and processes as well as how to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
I really enjoyed my programme as it taught me new things as well as developed my previous knowledge that I had learnt in the practical job role. The trainer was very helpful and provided me with plenty of support and encouragement. The workload was a nice amount as it wasn’t too much that I couldn’t handle, however it was enough to keep me busy.
Very very well organised programme, there was regularly set appointments with myself and my trainer as well as an email group that I was set into with out other leaners in a similar position to myself. The appointments were always done in a good careful pace, and throughly discussed and evaluated.
My employer began with good support by putting me onto the scheme and offering me encouragement with the course as well with the practical side of the assessments. Towards the end of the course, there wasn’t much discussion with myself and my employer regarding the work, however it wasn’t necessarily needed at that point.
There was a lot of support from lifetime. My trainer was very experienced and offered plenty of advice and support both by physical meetings and via email and phone calls. The company itself kept me very updated with the course and it’s requirements and any important information that I needed to know
The qualification I undertook Definitely helps me through my job role to work much more efficiently and to a better level which I didn’t have before the course. I have a much better knowledge of how certain tasks should be completed and the theories behind them. As well as this I am a lot more confident in my role.
There are not any extra curricular activities Directly linked to my work. However I have been to a few networking events with a few colleagues of mine as well as with the whole team. The team itself have a very close bond so often socialise with each other and go out for meals etc.
Yes
Greene king provided me with an opportunity when others wouldn’t. They provided a lot of support and offered the best kind of development when I wanted it meaning there was always something to work to and I wasn’t at a dead end. As well as this, there is also a very good rewards scheme.
One tip I would give is to be yourself, as employers, especially greene kind like to see people’s personalities in their work. I would also recommend being very smiley and make the customer the focus of the experience the customer is having as this is a main focus of the companies work ethic
