on an every day basis as a waitress i run food, i clear tables, i check to see if everything is ok with customers, i do some pot wash or i make desserts. I occasionally help on the bar so this means bottling up or putting some glasses away. But i usually just stick to what i have to do.
during my apprenticeship i have learnt many new skills but the most important is developing my existing skills. I have worked in customer service for 4 years and working in a pub on the apprenticeship has given me so much more knowledge on how to deal with customers on an every day basis.
I enjoy the programme a lot actually. I didn’t think i would because i was worried about getting everything done in such a short amount of time but a year is plenty of time and your learn so much from it. The work isn’t too hard and most of it is common knowledge.
The programme is structured to a certain extent but i feel like you have to organise yourself through most of it. a lot of the work is online which is a bit of a struggle because i work better from paper but structure wise it is very well planned out.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. we have set days where we will work on certain things and it makes me understand the work and questions a lot more. i know that if i ever have any questions then i can go to her and ask for help.
I also receive a lot of support from my training provider. she is very approachable and the same goes, so when i need help i know i can email her for some help or to shed abit of light on what i need to do to get where i need to be.
There are a lot of added extras that some people wouldn’t know about unless you go into detail about customer service and business in general. so going into detail with my training provider helps me perform my job at a better standard because i know that there is more behind it.
There are not many extra things that we do at work. i know that my manager goes to certain meetings and it’s always a good idea for members of staff to go because it gives us extra training and a better understanibg on how to ensure we are doing our jobs properly.
Yes
i would recommend greene king to a friend because the job role in general is incredibly interesting and you learn so much from it. there are so many perks from working for the company and it benefits us, for example you get great discounts and offers and working in the greene king trade is very social.
some advice i would give to others applying to greene king is to go in with an open mind. every pub is different and you get to meet so many different people. you learn new things every day and to go in with certain expectations may not always be the right way.
