1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I have been out on audit at various client's sites doing a variety of audit testing on their financial statements. I have also been in the business services and accounting sector doing some accounts preparation

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a variety of new skills via colleagues explaining to me how to do things. This includes how to carry out audit tests and how to prepare accounts

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the programme, i have learnt loads and it has been a great experience. I definitely got the benefits out of it that i hoped to get (learning what an accountant really does and having the chance to see if being an accountant is really what i wanted to do or not

4. How valued do you feel by BDO?

I feel like i have been appreciated by all the managers that i have had on the different audits as they have all told me how pleased they were with the work i had done for them

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say that the programme is quite well organised, i have always had something to do, although i was sometimes given some last minute notice of where i was going to be. However i believe it is only the second year that this programme has been running so i believe for that reason it is quite well structured.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

I received a lot of support, if i need help with the work i am doing they help me as soon as possible. I have never been told no when i needed help, there is always someone around which is helpful.

I have received a lot of support, if i am ever stuck on a task someone would be there to help me out

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I am being paid travel expenses for when i have to travel to a clients site so this is very helpful

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Yes, we have been out for a few lunches, i know that they do other social events as well but as i am only here for two weeks i havent had the chance to experience them.

They are a great company, they are recognised worldwide and have been very helpful to me.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?

Be yourself, be enthusiastic and outgoing and make sure you have opinions on work and ideas to put across. Also make sure your ideas and queries are heard.
