  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role means that I have to spend time with customers to ensure that we give them all of the information they need to make an informed decision. I have to give support to my colleagues to get all tasks complete din a timely manner. this also involves me completing daily and weekly risk control checks

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to listen to understand customers rather than just listening to respond. this has helped me to book in more quality appointments and also book into the specialists diaries. it helps me to understand complaints and to get them resolved within the expected timescale given by Santander.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme as it supports my day to day to role and helps me to build on skills I already have plus develop new ones. I enjoy the skills workshops to get ideas from others on the programme. I also enjoy the 1 to 1's that I have with my coach as I can see how I am progressing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is very well organised and I always know what is due in and on what date. I like that I have a timetable that tells me when my reviews are and also when there will be an interactive webinar or a skills workshop. There is always support from the coaches

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a reasonable amount of support but it does become difficult when there are staff shortage sin the branch. it is particularly hard during school holidays to get my work done as I am required to support the front of house team or cover other pbs diaries when they call in sick.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive plenty. my coach is always there for me if I have a question whether it be a small query or needing the whole task explaining to me again. my coach also appreciates things in the branch are changing and will allow extra time on missions when we are short staffed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that it makes me perform a lot better as I can now understand and appreciate how processes work and how they can be simplified to make it easier for the staff and for the customers. I have got better at my time management and will now prioritise tasks to make sure everything is completed in a timely matter.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is a women in business event that happens each half year. it is where the managers meet up with aspiring women who are wanting to progress within Santander. it is held across the country and is a day based around how we can improve our skills to be able to apply for the management roles.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Santander to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • it is very good for assisting you with progression and working to the best of your abilities. there is always new things to learn and new ways of helping others achieve what they want to. it also has a really good range of products and services to talk about to customers.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
  • keep an open mind when applying as there are a lot of changes within the branch network. there are lots of changes meaning it might not be as easy to progress as it maybe has been in the past. this is the same for all banks at the moment so it is no different to any other employer.
