  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a test engineering new associate. I handle manual testing for development projects that are given to my team by third parties. This involves writing up test documents and performing functional, regression, system, system integration testing amongst many other types. Also some system analysis is involved when it is necessary .

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have advance my knowledge in the field of testing exponentially. Before I was on this role the field was entirely unfamiliar to me. I am now very aware of a typical office working atmosphere and business protocols also and I will certainly be able to take this knowledge with me going forward in my career

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It varies depending on the work we are given. Like any other working environment there are times where there is too much to do at once and conversely other times where there is no work to do at all. I feel like the balance has been rather even so far

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured for the most part. There have been some communications issues between the university and the business in the past which have failed to yield any particular resolution from my point of view. Other than that as self sufficient items I and the other apprentices have been progressing well despite this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A fair amount in terms of training availability. I feel like if we received more support when it comes to managing/balancing time and making time to do uni work in the office productivity would be enhanced because there would be less to cause the apprentices stress and unwelcome pressure

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A good amount of support now that I am in the final module of the final year. Historically however there have been times where I and other apprentices have needed rapid feedback from the training provider and have been let down despite promises of such assistance at the beginnings of the modules

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has been very enlightening in regards to how I approach problems and information that I do not fully understand. Gaining all of this technical and management related knowledge is bound to benefit me in my career both currently and in the future also. I have also learned some core principles that have wound up being beneficial when talking to people at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a great many extra curricular activities to get involved in. Volunteering opportunities at schools/ colleges / universities etc. There are plenty of ways for an employee to distinguish themselves in non professional environments with opportunities to do so popping up in numbers on a daily basis. Sometimes as many as 4/5 a day.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The fact that no qualifications are needed and the starting wage is going up every year as I know that many people I associate with outside of work would be hooked by these two things. I also feel like it is a very good place to forge professional connections and relationships for the benefit of your career

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be honest and consistent during the application process. If you are good with management and organisation and this is very clear to the company from an early stage during the application process this is greatly beneficial down the line and improves your chances exponentially of getting the job at accenture .
