  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Client Management Services. We help to on-board new clients, by running all of the KYC checks and ensuring that customers are compliant with all regulation that is necessary to the products that they are using. We also make sure that we advise them where necessary. We act as a support function for front office.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme as it gives me the opportunity to learn different skills and jobs whilst rotating around various departments. It helps me to network with different people and interact across the business. I also really enjoy the qualification that we are studying as it gives me a lot of insight into the financial sector.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As this is a new programme there has been some teething problems but that is because we are still in the process of developing this programme. The study days are well organised which is good as it means that on Monday's we have a study day which allows us to revise for our exams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get a lot of support which is great. They allow us to take Monday's out of the office which helps us to completely focus on our studies. They also understand that we need to take time off to complete exams. The content that they give us is well put together.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the qualification is really good as it helps to give a more detailed / intellectual view of the Financial Services Sector. It also helps me to link different regulations and processes together which is great. In the long run the qualification will help me to apply for a permanent job within the bank.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The team that I am part of (CMS) are a very sociable team which is great. At work there are community / charity days that we can get involved with and this means that we take a day out of the office to get involved with the community. There is also the potential to join various networking events. The other day myself and two other apprentices attended a CBI networking event for young professionals which was great.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Santander to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is a very young and dynamic bank. It is a good place to start out your career in the financial services industry as there is lots of support and it is a very diverse place to work. It is great that they have different schemes such as Apprenticeship schemes, graduate schemes, work experience and internships.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
  • I would definitely say that you need to be passionate and also be very open-minded. The financial services industry is always changing which means that you need to be willing to adapt to these changes. I would also say to do some research into Santander as it's always good to know about the Company before applying - this way it will tell you whether or not it's for you.
