  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is as a data analysis manager for Santander. My day to day role contstantlky changes from writing ad-hoc queries using our existing databases to process improvement identification and full end to end management of the roll out of new processes. I mainly provide efficiencies to Santander through project and change

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have. I learnt a lot of new excel skills from the first module which has helped me massively in my role at Santander. Further to that, I have also developed many new skills in query writing, data base design and building and also multiple useful tools and techniques to help me with my role in data.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The course is ok but it is a bit unstructured and all over. We started off not really too sure with how it would work out and it was pretty slow paced and quiet to begin with. Now we appear to be cramming in loads of sessions and coursework requirements which has become very challenging and demanding on top of my normal workload as I do not have any spare time during my working week to commit to requirements.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is not the best structured but this is probably because it is a new bespoke course built for us and has never been ran before. I enjoy the course and have learnt new things but it would have been to have some consistency throughout the year with the sessions and coursework etc.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • enough. I do not really require much support from my employer for the course, and my manager and workload has been great in order to support the studies where required. My line of work ties in with the course so I haven't been short with items of work to go with.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • This is ok. We typically would get enough support from the trainers [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and they are always contactable and willing to help. The learning needs coach is very difficult to get in touch with and so it is often difficult to do the coursework at times. Given that it is remote learning this also doesn't help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has definteily helped me to perform better as my skills in query writing, excel and overall data analysis tools and concepts has improved. I can now write full queries, use multiple new functions in Excel and can also understand certain error messages and also various different issues with data.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are multiple internal training course and other things that go on that we can be involved in that have also helped to aid my knowledge and skills in data analysis. These are more specific to Santander and therefore allow me to use the tools and programmes that we use in our office more often.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Santander to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are very open and allow us the opportunities to develop and enhance skill sets. I couldn't recommend Santander any more to anyone who is looking for a good secure and progressive career or even someone who just wants a comfortable career. There are plenty of opportunities and the staff are always very helpful, opportunities are always just around the corner and your career with Santander can be as much or as little as you make of it.
