  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a customer service advisor at a contact centre in Sheffield, I answer calls from customers everyday and provide customers with answers tot heir problems such as sending out new cards, new online banking details and other banking related queries. As well as this we also have team meetings and one to ones with our managers

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • while I have been on this apprenticeship and working for Santander I have had the opportunity to develop new skills such as problem solving, communication, time management and I have also had the chance to improve my maths skills as this is as skill that I would use on a daily basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy taking part in this apprenticeship as it is a good opportunity to develop skills that are transferable to other jobs within and outside of Santander, i also enjoy this programme because the work needed to pass the apprenticeship is relatively easy and can be done alongside taking calls.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is well structured and we are provided with documents that gives us guidance on what we need to do in our jobs and within our apprentice work to get the best outcomes at the end of the apprenticeship. There have been some times where there was a lack of communication between BPP and Santander but it didn't have a negative impact on my learning

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • the support given by Santander is very good and they are a very approachable employer and don't make me feel like there isn't anything that i wouldn't be able to approach a manager about. They are also very understanding of sickness and das off and always offer the appropriate support

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • i receive a good amount of support from our training provider and always have a meeting with someone from the training provider every few weeks to discuss my progress with apprenticeship and to see what needs to be done in the future to achieve the best qualification i can get

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • we have more and longer meetings with our manager and training provider and we are given more information how to do the job, we also have a longer times being coached taking calls which makes us more confident and ready to take calls. we also have longer in training which really helps as well

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is extra curricular events such as women in business, ethnicity at works and other groups that are suited to all the different type of people that work at Santander, this makes the company very inclusive. Woman in business also has professional networking events and there is football teams etc to join as well

  • Yes

  • Santander are a very inclusive company to work for and give lots of support to you if need and also give places outside of work that can give support as well


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
  • be aware of skills that you have and also be aware of skills that need improving because there is lots of opportunities to improve your skills
