  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the variety of placements and how each area support you and I really enjoy the work and constantly learning something new. the placements I've had have all be very enjoyable from both the work and the people aspect your placement works hard to support you where they can

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the apprenticeship is split into 6x 6month and 1x 12 month placements which is really good as you can get a wide range of experience in the work and different team dynamics although it can become abit of a pain almost having 2 managers (apprentice one and Placement) because in some situations they tell you to do different things and you don't know who too listen too, would make more sense that your placement manager deals with issues and situations as that is where you work. also when completing our level 4 there was no organisation what so ever we where constantly getting told different things and they didn't properly communicate the changes to our assessment. the organisation with university also isn't the best, the quality of lectures and support is very poor. our placements are always good as the teams there make them that way but the feedback we get from placements is that they think the scheme as a whole is run poorly

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Placement- massive amounts of support and guidance is given from placements, people in and out of your direct team will go out of their way to help you and improve your knowledge and experience Apprenticeship- we get support on work related matter well, advice and guidance however in regards to the educational side not so much, we have put in concerns about uni issues and how its massively effecting our results and how its actually effecting us in regards to stress and confusion however we never seem to see any action being taken or improvements

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • gen2 only where involved within our level 4 (first two years) and our assessor was amazing he would go out of his was to help us, it just didn't help that the course was new meaning constant changes made it hard work but our assessor tried his hardest to make it easier for us university of Cumbria provides our qualification training from year 2-3 and I feel like some lecturers do try to support however its just not the best standard

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it gives me a better understanding of how a project is run and how things are carrieds out, my 3 qualifications (PMQ, Level 4 and foundation degree) all fit hand in hand so that made it easier. however qualifications are based on 'by the book' and because of the nature of our company there is very few things we do this way so there are a lot of differences in how we do things in comparison to what we learn from our qualifications but the qualifications have given me a basic understands and the ability to pick up quicker how we do things

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes the apprentices across site are always encouraged to join the charity events which are ran throughout the year and there is always one going on we regularly attend internal PM Forums and external APM conferences the social life with work is very good with both placement and apprentices getting involved in team outings- which really helps team relationships

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sellafield Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • although I have has abit of a twine about different things the apprenticeship and opportunities it brings are amazing, the experience and learning you get from the placements is way better than you could ever get in a class room. further you come out of your time with 4 years experience and a variety of PM qualification and this apprenticeship will always be my first choice

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sellafield Ltd?
  • this is one of the best places to get experience and learning within project management. it is not an easy apprenticeship, it will take time, commitment and hard work but if you do that it will all be worth it due to the experience and qualifications you get. also to take everything you do as learning, mistakes, successes and observations of those around you
