  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Since I have started my apprenticeship I have been on 2 different roles both working at client sites away from home. The first role was working as a full stack developer working with a team of devs to create new and innovate apps for the client. My current role is working as an RPA developer which includes maintaining and developing robots that the client uses to automate repetitive tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far the program has been great! Before joining Accenture I attended university and since then I have learned so much more than I ever thought was possible and have met some amazing people that has helped me out a lot since I have joined and have helped me out with working at Accenture with there vast experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We were the first apprenticeship program Accenture has done in Scotland. At the start there were issues with our training supplier but that is expected from such a new programme. We spent our first 4 weeks in a boot camp preparing us for everything we need to know for university and also our projects. We also have a great network of support if we are ever stuck and we have frequent meetings to discuss how we are getting on. Trying to manage a good work life balance between traveling a lot for work and work for university is very hard but has become better as I have got used to it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my managers with them being understanding of the programming and helping me out if needed. I also have a mentor who I meet on a monthly bases to catch up and get help with things I am struggling with. The only thing I would suggest is the ability to work from home when deadlines are nearing so and am not wasting time traveling and instead spending on working on university work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • At the start our training provider was very poor with providing help and support however as time has gone by we have received a bit more help with regarding to university however it is still not great. Accenture has worked very closely with the university to give them feedback and improve our experience a lot.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • With being a university degree there are modules that are completely irrelevant to what we learn at work and also the modules are very outdated and working at an innovative company who are at the forefront of all new technology its hard to apply what we learn at university at work. Our course does have business related course which help us out a lot with known how our company works and how to manage a team.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I work on the people plan team to organise events within our account of 150 people. I am also involved with a virtual group that meets in Newcastle every quarter. Accenture holds a lot of networking events to meet new people within the company and also has a lot other groups such as a football team etc. Accenture also gives all employees 3 charity days that they can use every year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an amazing company to work for with loads of great people and benefits. You will learn a lot at Accenture and is one of the best places to work at. Accenture works with a lot of different companies and you can change role to one that you would prefer if you currently don't like the one your on.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • I would suggest that you do your research on Accenture and come well prepared to the assessment days. I recommend contacting people at Accenture to see if it is a place that you would want to work at, a lot of people would be happy to tell you about the jobs.
