  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • checking servers for performance decreases in workflows, reporting directly to the client on the overall performance and stability of the service and completing work orders and incidents where applicable as and when they come into our teams queue. In addition I also provide support to other team members should they need it.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt not only transferable personal skills such as effective communication and confidence when speaking to larger groups of people I have also learnt technical skills in across various aspects of IT. These are skills such as database management, javascript, command line scripting and back end development and management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love what I do on a daily basis, every day I learn something new and my team are great when it comes to helping me succeed in all areas. They are supportive of my choices and are always there for a chat when necessary. There isn't a day when I think I don't want to come to work theres so much to get involved in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program itself has had its ups and downs and has often resulted in a large workload being balanced. This then leads to longer days and longer weeks which have been very hard but realistically some things are unavoidable and in my opinion it is all worth it in the long run.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer support me wherever possible whether this be with external courses I would like to attend, additional materials for my college/uni course or just with everyday work support. Overall my team are the most important when it comes to direct support and they have never been anything but.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All tutors are available at all times within the week to answer any questions we may have and will respond relatively quickly. The quick and all round responses allow for a quick turn around in assignments as well as a feeling of support from all aspects of the working week.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Overall, my college course is not 100% linked to my current job role however, during my time at Accenture I have had the opportunity to work on various projects and the majority of which were perfectly aided by the content I was learning at college. However, on a overall company level I believe the skills I have learnt help me to understand the business and the industry better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of professional networking events available to attend as well as more informal events. As well as social events there are a specific allocated amount of charity days available to each employee. This gives us the chance to go out into the community and give something back.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship scheme is a great place to learn and gain relevant work experience. All staff surrounding you are so supportive of your career regardless of whether you work with them directly or not. The salary is competitive and the benefits are great. For someone starting their career Accenture is a great place to get yourself in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be yourself, confident and bubbly. Make sure to listen to other peoples opinions as they might not be the same as yours howevere they are just as important. Don't say what you think they want to hear, if you do you're not showing what you're capable of. Don't worry about having a technical backgroumd, if you can show passion thats just as good and finally, make sure to ask questions, they never hurt anyone and it makes you look interested and willing to learn more.
