  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to be more proactive; I am better at multitasking as there have been several times where I've had to cover multiple wards at the same time. I am more aware of my behaviours and personality as I know that I am working with other people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it as it keeps me stimulated as I am constantly learning something new. I have told a lot of my colleagues about the programme too as they have seen my trainer (Annie) come to the ward a number of times, and they are all fascinated by it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organised; I always know what I am doing in advance, and I know what is expected of me. There is a new topic to cover every month; essential material is put on the portal for me to learn. This really helps me a lot and I can always look back at past topics too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support; anytime I am unsure about something, the help is always made available. I have a great line manager, who is easily accessible, and ready to explain things and show me if I need help. The ward sister is the head of the ward, and is also very helpful.

  • It helps immensely, as I am able to implement what I have learnt into my daily job role. Most of the topics I have covered on this course, I experience on a day to day basis; this makes it easier as I understand what the topic is really all about.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always different events going on that are advertised on the intranet. We are always kept in the loop. We usually receive emails about upcoming events, training that we may need to sign up to. This is good as we always know what is going on within the hospital.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend the NHS to a friend because there are great benefits of working with the NHS, one being the fact that, there are always opportunities for career advancement. It is a good way to work your way up. They have a lot of specialist employees here too which helps.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Find out about the hospital/trust before you go there. It is always good to know what they believe in; their core views and values. For example, when I applied for the role I have now, I did a lot of research and found out a lot. This helped me in the interview.
