  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in Incident management, this involves fixing applications for the client as they come in. Some examples of day to day tasks this involves are communicating with clients for information relating to incidents I am working on, communicating with other team members for help and ideas for fixing incidents. Also on the day to day i have side of desk work which is for when work is quiet, this consists of innovation work allowing me to develop applications to help us internally or to help clients we have.

  • I have learned a lot of new skills since starting the apprenticeship. Some examples of some skills that I have been able to develop are SQL, Java, c#, Unix /Perl. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme quite a lot as it gives me a lot of time to work on developing skills along side of completing real work and getting a real work experience, it is a very good balance of working and learning. There is also a lot of opportunity to try different roles to get as much different experience and learn as much as possible within the apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is structured well, it differs slightly from some other similar programs as we started with a two month boot-camp which allowed for a much better transition into working than being thrown in at the deep end. Also attending universality is well organised as we go every Friday and are also able to take study days for when we need more time to complete an assignment.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a dedicated team for supporting the apprentices and they are always there and available for whenever you need help with something or just need some one to talk to. There is also lots of support in individual roles as it is always made sure there is someone you are able to ask if you are stuck with something. There is also lots of training opportunities that you can sign up for if you wish to do so.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a decent amount of support but since we are only there one day a week it can sometimes be hard to get help with something like an assignment as you will have to wait until the end of the week before you are physically able to see them again.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training provider covers a wide range of different things and teaches a lot of different skills. However because of this not all of the skills they are teaching will be applicable to every person who is attending, for example there has been a module on project management and whilst this might be useful to someone who has a role based in project management a lot of people will never do project management. The training is useful to support the things that you already learn within work as they go into more depth and explain the theory side of it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is quite a few activities that people are able to get involved in for example there is a football group, a reading group and more. There is also quite a lot of networking events where there will be pizza and drinks available for anyone who wishes to show up these are on most months and are very good for being able to meet higher ups that you wouldn't usually see.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They seem to care a lot about you as an individual and make you feel more valued than other places I have worked. They provide a lot of support and help especially for people in the apprenticeship programme. They also look for people who have a keen interest in technology and value passion and enthusiasm just as much if not more than prior qualifications. This means that your colleagues are going to be just as enthusiastic and happy to be there as you are creating a nice working environment.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • When applying to Accenture it is important for you to show the interest you have in technology. For example something they might be interested in is what first sparked your interest in technology. The company values people that are going to be passionate about the job so it is important to show that when applying.
