  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a daily basis, I work within the AD&M capability for Accenture. I use different languages of code to ensure databases that I work with are working to design. I use both scripting and command shell based languages such as SQL, PERL, UNIX and some Object-oriented programming using C#. This is all from Monday to Thursday, as I have my University (training day) every Friday as part of my degree. Each day is different and provides new and engaging problems for me to solve and test my newly developing coding skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In my opinion, Accenture's Apprenticeship programme is very well structured with a 6 week structured "Bootcamp" upon arrival enabling you to orient yourself and become used to the basics of coding and the way Accenture works within a professional manner. Having one set day a week to focus on studies within higher education in combination with all of the on the job training provided makes learning easy and enjoyable.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The perfect amount! I have enough support within Accenture's programme to learn and develop my skills without being "spoon fed" and having someone else do my work for me. I am actively encouraged to learn and ask questions if I am stuck and require help. I am given plenty of independence as well and the ability to test myself to learn new and interesting problem-solving techniques every day.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification enables me to better understand the theory and work out a practical solution to the problem solving I have to undertake every day.
