  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day-to-day work consists of creating front end web applications for clients, i mostly work with ReactJS/CSS to create these applications based on designs given to me. i work as part of a team of developers, technical analysts and designers to create these applications in 2 week sprints. These apps are created in browser to run on varying devices and are all different in their function and operation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I came to Accenture with no prior experience, and learned everything related to coding and business operation from training here. Over the course of 3 years i have learned how to fully perform front end coding, coding in general in Javascript, HTML and CSS. Aswell as many softer skills such as speaking to clients and presenting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme has a wide range of roles and work. Allowing for a wide flexibility between people. i came into Accenture wanting to be a front end developer and thats what i ended up doing so i'm pleased in that regard. Working at Accenture has allowed me to develop many applications that have been released to the public so it gives me a great sense of achievement

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme is quite easy to follow, the apprentices are split into start groups so its easy to identify who has joined at a particular time. The degree level you work towards is decided from your previous education, So if you came from GSCE you will be required to do one year of college level 3 before doing your level 4. So you can sometimes get a mix of start groups at your university days. The week is split between 4 days of work and 1 day at university however you have a lot of freedom on these days to work on university material. So as long as you can keep on top of the workload it should be okay, but it can be hard to properly manage otherwise There is a large support network at accenture from team leads and mentors so you should never feel like you are alone in your work, there is also regular catchups for apprentices so you can relay any issues you are experiencing with an apprentice lead.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Varies depending on how much you need it. If you don't ask or try to get support it wont come to you. But if you have any issues with the apprenticeship there is always a great support network you can rely on but you have to reach out for it. Accenture also has a great mentor system where you can choose who you want to mentor your career.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Not much, Working towards the qualification is fairly independant as you only get one day a week to attend university/college. Materials are all provided online if you are unable to attend the lecture so a lot of the learning relies on the students ability to self teach, The company itself does not provide much support but if theres any issues there is communication between the two to sort it out.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Depends on the role you do at work. If you mostly work with people rather than technical/development work you will gain a lot of skills through the university such as coding, networking, testing/sprints etc. But if you are doing a development role throughout the week you will be ahead of the curve of university teachings and will be learning things you already cover day to day

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Many teams have their own networking, team building events such as regular night outs. meals and other activities that are great to get involved in. Accenture itself has many great apprentice events that are free to attend and can get you involved with the community and know other apprentices. There is also accenture unofficial sports teams, games nights, movie nights and many more

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Fantastic and friendly place to work which has massive potential to progress someones careers and develop their technical and softer skills from the ground up, amazing support network that makes you feel safe in your job and the opportunity for the degree is essential for later in life, Feels like a career rather than just a job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Always push yourself to be better at what you do and get involved within the Accenture network, Accenture isn't just a 9-5 job there is so many events and activities you can involve yourself with to better your career and network.
