  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role started as support for others in my team. However now this has progressed to me having my own clients. On a day to day I would be in contact with clients and insurers. I would also arrange insurance renewals for my clients and request for policy documents to be issued.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop my skills, the main ones being working under pressure and towards a deadline. There have been many situations where I would need to be able to use both of these skills to complete certain tasks or to get a project towards completion. However overall I have been able to develop many of my skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme very much so far. My role has shifted since I have started and I am now dealing with my own clients. This has been great because I have been able to expand on my experience and knowledge but also been able to work with many different people. I also enjoy my team, I get along with everyone and we work well together.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When we first started the programme I felt like it was very structured and we had a solid plan in place. However there have been a lot of changes to the programme or the contacts at the learning provider. This has made things very confusing and unclear at times. The apprenticeship team has been able to update us through the year however it sometimes leave us with more questions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive help from my employer and this has either been through me asking questions or training sessions being set up for me. If I do have any questions my team or manager are always there to help. There have been many webinars and training sessions through the year I have been here. WTW ensure that we are kept up to date with the latest legislation and changes in the insurance market.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of help. They have been very helpful in all aspects and have gone out of their way to provide extra help/revision sessions. In particular [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been excellent. When ever I had questions she has been able to answer, being through calls, email or text. When we had our trading sessions too they made sure the sessions were interactive, we would present or do group tasks.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that it helps massively for the reasoning behind processes or understanding words. When carrying out certain tasks or processing data I am able to identify phrases I have seen In my studies and understand what they mean. Also it has helped to understand certain processes and terminology too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are loads of professional networking events. Particularly for young professionals where people my age are able to network and meet. These events are held in both Ipswich and Birmingham and its a great way to meet others who are in the same industry. There are also various social events and sporting events which are held.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • WTW as a company has been very supportive in my progression and towards my studies. I have been able to hold more responsibilities by having my own clients and was encouraged to do so by my manager/team. I have learnt so much, and things I did not previously know. This has both helped my understanding within my role but outside of work too. For example when reading a contract or looking into certain terms/conditions. I am able to understand what they actually mean and be able to process the information.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • I would suggest that they should gather an understanding of the industry. To understand who our competitors are, what we offer/do and to also look into the CII. They should actually look into the qualification and where it can take them. There are many different exams they could take but they should get a clear understanding of what they need to do.
