  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At Accenture you have a wide variety of different projects to choose from, in my role I get assigned new tasks each day as the project is fast moving and flexible, I interact with various members of my team both in the office and from countries abroad. As well as communicating effectively with the client to ensure we are progressing in the right direction. Some of my responsibilites include deploying the newest versions of a program to various teams to be developed or tested, as well as help with statistic reporting so we are able to visualise our progress.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many new skills, Accenture has provided various training courses for my colleagues and I, these are either-project related qualifications or external training courses to help us widen our skills. Furthermore Accenture has its own internal learning platform where you can study a broad range of topics. On top of this, interacting with the team and client in a professional manner has helped to boost my confidence and communicative skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the Degree Apprenticeship programme offered by Accenture. The work and roles available is broad enough to satisfy anyone, the company culture really stands out, even though it is a huge organisation, there is a very close-knit feel within the office. I enjoy meeting new people through my work and university, as well as continually learning something new each day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well structured, the induction and training provided us with a foundation to improve from. Accenture provides a lot of support for us as Apprentices, as they are well aware that we are balancing a full-time degree with studying. Accenture ensure that we know who to contact whenever we have any issues or questions about either work or university. The University could improve with how they structure and organise us as we have come across a few issues, but besides this it is good.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Accenture provides a lot of support. The managers are made aware of our Degree Apprenticeship scheme and are well aware that we also have University work to do outside of Accenture. Besides the regular holiday, we are also given a study allowance to use in order to help balance our studies. We have a careers councillor at Accenture who can help to answer any questions we may have about the company and offer advice for our personal and professional growth. Ontop of this, we are assigned a "buddy" who is an apprentice from a few years above, whom we can also go to talk to about any questions relating to the scheme. The HR team are very supportive of us Apprentices and have a very positive attitude in general.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider is generally okay at providing support. They run catch-up sessions and help sessions for students. We have a few points of contact to communicate to when we are in need of support. In general, the attitude towards helping us when necessary is okay but needs improving. Overall I still do enjoy it

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There are some aspects of certain modules that help me to understand what is going on in my day-to-day role better. Some of the work from courses we have completed have given me a better grasp of the industry I am working in as well as the general business processes behind each decision made.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Accenture always run professional networking events, on top of this we have Apprentice-only events. Accenture runs various sports and recreational clubs which are available for any employee to join in with. We are given three days paid each year to volunteer and help to make a difference within the community.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Accenture is an excellent place to work, the scheme they provide is one of the best out there. The variety of work available as well as options for professional growth are second to none. I have really enjoyed the scheme so far and will continue to, the experiences and opportunities provided are incredible.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • I would recommend doing things outside of school, extra-curricular activites (especially those which are related to what you are applying for) will help you to really stand out from the rest of the crowd. Interviews and Assessment days can seem scary and daunting, so long as you are yourself and are confident in your abilities, you'll pass with flying colours.
