Day-to-Day basis I am going through different placements building up my competency's, helping Projects and different departments achieve their set objectives and goals. Can't disclose much detail due to the security sensitive the work is, as require SC Clearance to be able to do this line of work
I have learnt lots of new skills, from learning different IT systems and different software, in order to achieve the finish of actions or get set numbers or details. Further to this; developed communications skills massively and my understanding of the organisation. Developed existing skills such as organisation and planning.
I enjoy my Programme quite a lot, the University Work is good, the work load is a lot however good organisation and planning keeps me on top of the work, the programme is interesting due to its broad range of knowledge and depth of programme management and how relevant it is.
Well organised/ structured, it is clear what our end goal is and how we will achieve this and the help that we can get along the way. Further to this; it is clear for our days of attendance when tests are and when all our deadlines are due. Timetables and information is distributed quickly and effectively.
We receive a lot of support, all the different lines of support are there whether it be mental health and personal problems, or any difficulties with work. All the different channels are their and we get as much support each person need with some people needing more help than others and can acquire that as quickly as needed.
Training Provider, is the same as the employer, as much help as we want, with it again being in regards to our mental wellbeing or anything at Uni or anything at work that we don't feel comfortable bringing up at work, so we can express our feelings and how we feel to many people, which creates really positive learning environment and trust and good relationships between the staff and mentors
Well, so far only being on the course a matter of months, the course really helps underpin all the work that we do at work, and helps understanding people and the work and context of work that they gave us; meaning I can perform more effectively and efficiently in work, creating a better outlook on the work I do and my personal performance
At work, currently not, due to living a good drive/ train journey away then within this sense is difficult , however outside of work I play Basketball which I really enjoy and have done for the last years of playing. However I believe, there is things I can get involved in outside of workplace.
Yes
Provides a really useful apprenticeship. Personally, I believe apprenticeships are so much more valuable then just going to University, Sellafield provide hands on learning and give you a good insight into the industry and work that they undertake on a large and small scale. In Addition to this; they have many ways of being able to strive and progress as much as we want, providing we meet the criteria.
Prepare, lack of preparation really does show throughout interviews and presentations, plan and always be ready if you are serious about trying to join the apprenticeship scheme at Sellafield Ltd. Further to this; do your research and present yourself as competent, outgoing and ready for a challenge, as they're providing you the chance for a degree with invaluable experience which really counts further down the line.
