  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I will usually carry out a number of tasks. The apprenticeship will have 4 lots of 6 months rotations and in my current rotation I have been in charge of data analysis and collation of data which is the presented to leadership in meetings.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have significantly developed my google suite skills in this apprenticeship. I have consistently used google sheets, docs and slides and within the development of these skills I have found they are easily transferred to Microsoft office applications. I have also found that my relationship skills in the office have developed as now I am confident in leading meetings as well as having one to one conversations with leadership.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme so far, I love that there is flexibility in the apprenticeship as we get to try different areas of the consulting business. I also enjoy the aspect of socialising and network, this is really encouraged as making connections is important to the business to help improve relationships across different areas.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the structure of the programme is well organised and it is laid out well. However, I believe there are areas for improvement, such as the lack of study time provided for our exams at Kaplan and the way our future roles are prioritised across the two years of apprentices.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is plenty of support available at PwC, but you mus be the one to instigate and make what you want to out of it. We have career coaches who guide you for all your business development areas such as performance ratings. Buddies when you first join the firm to help you settle in, and these often turn into a good friend. We have relationship leads who are liaising with other areas of the firm to coordinate your experience. But often you may find that these people are not always around and you may have to chase them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider, Kaplan, gives adequate support for our qualification. We have our course coaches email and they are available to respond to our emails with queries. As well as allowing for plenty of help when we have actual college days at the Kaplan office. The training provided sometimes lacks clarity and feels rushed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the qualification helps me perform better as I am more aware of how businesses are run and the connections within them. However the finance exam which includes things such as double entry book keeping seems slightly off topic and general in terms of relation to the role. While I found this very interesting and enjoyable I am not sure if it helps me perform better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular areas, these are called above and beyond opportunities. A few examples of these include the young management consultant committees, newsletter committees, health and well being events. There are also many events during and after work where they give you the opportunity to find out about different cability groups in the business and network with the people who sit within these.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have loved working here and it provides a brilliant progression pathway onwards to the graduate scheme. It has good rates of pay and opportunities to do more outside of your role. It is varied due to the rotation lay out and in your second year you have the opportunity to start on client facing work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Ensure you are clear and concise at your interview, and you are aware of the current big things happening in the business world. Take a look at the PwC professional and see where tour strengths and weaknesses lie within this as this is what all development is based around for performance.
