I am currently on the WVP process engineering team so day to day my role involves monitoring the trends of the process and looking for possible developing issues. From that point it is to develop strategies for dealing with these issues and overall strategies for improving the process and its throughput.
before starting my role I has little to no excel skills since starting my role I have gained a large understanding of excel and I am often the first person people in my area talk to if they are having issues with excel or requires excel spread sheets to perform certain analysis or functions.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme as it has allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge in a work placement centred format to be able to understand how the knowledge and skills I've gained are applied to real world problems rather than just theoretical applications allowing me to absorb this knowledge at an increased rate.
My programme is well structured with one college day a week and work placement through the rest of the week. This allows me to use and better comprehend the skills and knowledge gained through the taught side in a real dynamic work environment which simultaneously gives my a large amount of real world experience.
I receive lots of support enough to fill a report the things they do makes the day less blue and is never a final resort My manager's kind and fair though he doesn't have much hair he never thinks twice before giving advice and always has time to spare
they organise support sessions for revising the subjects we cover on Monday evenings and the tutors are always available for questions. we have quarterly reviews where hey ask us if we are satisfied with everything and whether we need extra helps such as more time with tutors or more time at college.
we learn about engineering principles that apply directly to our job for example the plant that I currently work on has mechanical and chemical process' I learn foundational information linked with these disciplines at college which allows me to make better and more informed decisions at work for the benefit of the company.
There is Christmas and other assorted parties that are organised at work. there is a golf team that competes against over teams in the company as well as a five aside football league which I take part in. there is also strong links to activities in the wider community which my company partly funds.
Yes
There is a friendly and calm atmosphere that feels welcoming from day one. there is plenty of support available and you never feel alone as well as plenty of extra activities as described above to get involved with outside of work to improve teamwork and the bonding between all co-workers.
