I have developed and gained new skills by being in this placement. As I had a part time job working with customers, I already had good people skills but by being here with people of different grades it has helped me to understand how to act with different people. My organisation skills are also much better now with organising papers and meeting with lots if people. I time keeping is the main skill I have developed as I need to prioritise and learn to spend equal/scattered time on different jobs.
I really enjoy being apprentice in my placement. It wasn't what I expected and it has exceeded my expectations. I couldn't have asked for anything better, like the team or the atmosphere of the office as it was all welcoming and cheerful from day 1. I think anyone would enjoy working here.
My programme is very organised as we have a set feature of where we can go is we need to find out someone's line manager or co-worker. This is also helpful for myself with knowing who I am specifically working for. From this I found out I was PA to my bosses bosses boss.
I receive lots of support whenever I need it. Whether the support is work or my outside life related my Line Manager, Mentor and team are always there for me. I thought this was very good as when first starting my placement I was very nervous as to what everyone would be like.
My training provider is Gen 2. Every other Friday me and my cohort attend Gen 2 for a training session to complete our NVQ. My assessor also comes to my work place for observations where she watches do my day job which relates to a specific unit I am studying. I do receive support regarding my units and assessments as in the support sessions are there for us to learn.
I feel like my training through Gen 2 does help me perform better in my role. It teaches me my rights and responsibilities which I can apply to my workplace. It also teaches me how to use office equipment and what to do if there is a fault. Recently, we have been taught about the effects of customer service which I can use with my colleagues who ask me to do something for them.
We don't have any specific extra-curricular activities in our department. But we have done cake sales on each different floor to raise money for specific charities. Our bake sale on my floor raised money for Stand Up To Cancer with a total of 330 pounds in one day which we weren't expecting.
Yes
There couldn't be a better group of people in the office to work with. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming from the beginning which I was hoping would be the case with me only being 17 when starting! This should be the atmosphere in any office. This benefitted me a lot as I wasn't afraid to ask for help when I needed it. No one should be scared to ask for help as this is what our apprenticeship is about.
I would advise anyone to apply for this company. There is so much knowledge and experienced to be learned at my age and this could only be developed with applying in the first place. It is a great opportunity for anyone so it should be took! I would recommend anyone to take the chance if they are offered a interview:)
