  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My apprenticeship involves rotating within the Logistics department, getting on the job training from industry experts. I have a brief summary of my roations and what they entail below; Material scheduling- Planning and monitoring the materials required for production. Ensuring there is enough stock and managing the inventory. Warehouse- Working with the warehouse manager to ensure safe and efficient receipt, storage and despatch of goods. Planning- Planning when the campaigns will be manufactured and agreeing the demand with the customers. Shipping- Arranging all outbound shipments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills not just in the workplace but GSK provide a holistic development by ensuring each apprentice can develop to the best of their ability by send them on learning and development weeks and resilent events. I understand the importance of teamwork and good communication in the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy this programme, it is really suited to me. For me this programme has a llowed me to pursue my career and excel in the quickest way possible. I ham getting a number of high qualification, i am being paid full time and i have getting invaluable experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is very well organised, the apprenticeship is managed centrally in GSK House in Brentford but there is structure to ensure each apprentice no matter where they are recieves support and guidance. Initially when you join GSK you are assigned a mentor and a buddy as well as you line manager and the person you are shadowing. This ensure you are comfortable and you settle in quickly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Please refer to the answer above. I now have a very good relationship built with my mentor, she constantly challenges me to puch myself which i feel is very benefical. I have weekly check ins with my line manager, she ensures the programme is on track and i am happy with my workload, but also provides me with great opportunities.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • With my apprenticeship it is continous assessment for 4 years, there are no exams but there are 2 assignments every trimester. I attend college days every other month in GSK house whereby i meet the other Business and Supply chain apprentices and the tutor runs a class for us. We can contact him at any stage is we need support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am currently studying towards a level 5 in international practice and trade. The course content and the assignments links with my day to day role but it also challenges me to find out more about the company and how businesses operate. I am also studying towards a BSc Hons degree in supply chain management, this definelty contibutes to my performance in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are many extra activities which provide excellend networking opportunities and are very enjoyable. I a play tag rugby with GSK, i do road races with the GSK BHAA team. I am a memeber of the sports and social club, the MHFR( Mental Health First Responders) and the WLI (Womens Leadership Inititive).

  • 9a. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think GSK run a fantasitc programme, i am very fortunate to be a part of it. I would recommend this to every school leaver. It is a competitive programme and to get the most out of it you must be ambitous and independant but the whole experience has been brillant for me.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Ensure that you make the most of the programme. You must push yourself outside your comfort zone, network with as many people and find what you love to do. If you love what you do it makes life a lot easier and everyday more enjoyable. Dont be afraid to ask forhelp if you need it.
