Manufacturing Apprentice Review

My job involves hands on training in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant where I operate equipment and machinery to complete chemical processes.

I have an entire new knowledge around the working of a chemical processing plant. I have also developed my problem solving skills greatly since beginning. Along side my day-to-day work I've also been given opportunities which have developed my team work and public speaking skills.

I think my programme is great as it has equipped me for my potential future full time role and also given me various other development opportunities along the way. the only part I do not enjoy is lack of academic structure.

My programme lacks a formal structure and it has often relied on myself to plan and push for development. However, in these instances I have been supported.

I always receive full support from my employer when I need it and feel valued as an employee.

I receive fairly poor support from my college advisors. In the workplace my mentors and line manager provide good training and support and try to help with other issues.

The qualifications are related well to my on the job training and so give me the knowledge to perform my job better.

There are apprentice group activities, social groups (ie running) and yearly development trips on offer.
