My role during my first year is to attend east Surrey college and gain an engineering qualification. I am working towards a level 3 qualification. It is very enjoyable and I do a variety of practical and theory elements to engineering. For example I work of lathes and milling Machienes.
I have expanded my skills and knowledge widely so far in the apprenticeship. When I applied for the apprenticeship I did not have a lot of experience as I just left school however this job have widened my engineering skills and knowledge a lot further and I am more confident with then now.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme so far. I have made a lot of close friends within the apprentechip and would reccomend this job to anyone who is looking to seek a career path within engineering. I am excited for the future and the years to come for the engineering scheme.
It is organised well at the beginning but lacks in some communication at time to time. For example, sometimes the communication is not as good as it was but I believe that is just because I am at college for the first year, so I think it will defiantly get better.
We receive an adequate amount from our employer and they do support us. For example we have regular monitoring reviews in which we get assessed and asked how we are getting on and if we provide extra support. This is an excellent way to see how we are getting on.
We receive a lot of support and have regular reviews. These reviews include us getting asked if we feel safe in the college and if we have any concerns which we would like to arise with them. They are very helpful and allows us to express our concerns if we have any.
I feel like I perform a lot better with this qualification and have a better understanding in the engineering world. I really believe that I have thoroughly improved my hand skills and machinery skills within the practical aspect as I have completed a lot of work to a good standard.
There is none which I know of. However when we start to work in the depots which are located at different locations around London there will be a lot more opportunities to take part in extra curricular activities such as football and other sporting activities. I would be interested in these events.
Yes
Because it is an excellent career path if you are interested in an engineering field. It supports an excellent apprenticeship, which includes top class teaching of excellent qualifications. Also it supports people from all backgrounds and skills level of engineering. I would highly recommend this for people to apply for.
Make sure you have a strong passion in engineering, so you can easily learn all the aspects to the course and be very interested in them. It is great but not essential if you have any previous experience in an engineering field. Also be very confident and enthusiastic towards engineering.
