  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working with the cost consultancy arm of mace assisting with 2/3 projects on invoicing, valuations, change management, cost reporting and general contract management

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my networking skills and understand good client care. I have also learn a lot about the job role and what is involved. I have also learnt about relationships with contractors and how to have a relationship that is both productive and efficient.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed some placements more than others. I understand the logic behind seeing all sectors of the business however I feel this can be a hindrance to our development as you have to almost start from scratch every time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • mostly extremely well organized but there have been time communication could have been better in terms of rotations/appraisals/pay reviews.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very well supported in all aspects of working life by my line manager for day to day help and advise; personal development with my mentor; and even help with university from professionals from different sectors within the business

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There have been a number of issues with the university such as lack of qualified lecturers; poor quality of teaching including poor, confusing assignment briefs but to be fair to Mace they have acted firmly upon our feedback 100% of the time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The things we have learnt have helped us to understand things in more details but it took a while for the course content to be relevant to our industry. It more a case of we gain most of the knowledge in work, and then some of this is reinforced in uni.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are plenty of things to get involved in outside of more with mace and I find it extremely useful in terms of networking and getting to know my colleges but it also promotes a healthy work/life balance.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Mace has provided me with the opportunity to become a qualified professional without immediately putting too much pressure on me. we have been allowed to learn and grow at our own pace and they always put our best interests first.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Have a friendly approachable personality and be able to talk confidently. no base knowledge is needed but all of the information and training will be given to you if you have a fervent attitude
