  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have been making porgress on using Sharepoint, by helping my team to transfer important documents over to their very own site. I have done a few presentations and meetings to come up with designs and ways that can help others understand this process. Enjoyed every single minute of it.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Skills I have learnt, Planning, Presenting, Patience and Managemnt skills. These have been a few skills that I feel have worked on over the 4 months. Planning out my designs for the Sharepoint site have helped me to work well with memebers in my team. With presentations making me more confident to talk in front of others.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying it at the moment but find that certain areas in my apprenticeship (not my placement) need changing. Certain ways of completing tasks have lacked explanation and communication has been very close to being last minute not giving enough time to DA's. This is becoming an issue as I prefer to have a end goal and plan of where I want to go in the next few years.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We currently dont have enough placements and a plan of where we are going to be in the remaining two years. This relates a bit more towards the previous question but it need to be fixed. Howver I do like how well the placement sturcutres are and how you can go and talk to anyone in the programme to support you.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get plenty of opportunities for support but I find it is taken onboard but not always have action towards this. Sometimes it is a big ask, which requires alot of time but apaort from that everyhting is done well to improve for new intakes so they dont have to go through the same issue.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have personal tutors at University and Mentors who will help us with any issues that we are facing. I have had questions and things that I dont 100% agreeing with and found that having these both in Uni and Work as an option to talk to someone very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have found through my three palcements over the past year have progressed me further in understanding a working environment. What I found difficult at the start was certain ways of compelting jobs in a specific way. I then got use to it as I felt more comfortable with the team I was with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I think there are sports teams but I havent put myself forward for this. Howver there is a gym which we can use and save alot of money on. It helps to release stress and keep healthy, so in you lunch break you are free to go and work out.

  • 9a. Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Having the oppurtiunity to work hard in the business and university can help shape and mold a great employee. This has helped me to get better at higher education and working in an office enviornment at such a young age. I tell friends all the time what Im doing and how lucky I really am for this.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • Just be yourself and work hard everyday to show each placement manager and lecturer what you really can do. But most importantly enjoy yourself as its a long four years before everything is finsihed and you have moved onto the next massive stage in your life, I wouldnt change this for anything.
