  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current role is a testing based role, where my daily tasks include executing scripts as well as learning the client requirements on the way. This is because I have just joined the project recently and need to be aware of what the client expects from us, and how to achieve that to the best standard.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a few new skills with my time here. One important skill I have picked up is the key attention to detail that is required within testing. This is important as we need to ensure that the clients requirements are being met at all times and to the best of our ability.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much, where by I am currently travelling away from home to work. This is an exciting time for me as it allows me to gain more independence by having to live by my self, which would include having to feed my self ensure I get to work on time. Something I have not done before, but something I now enjoy very much.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I feel quite valued by Accenture, mainly because of the opportunity they provide for us apprentices, opening many doors. Being able to work for such a company itself is a pleasure. I have been appreciated from my manager for the progress I have been making on this role since I started, I have found it exciting as to why I say I would be excelling currently, having actually being told I am doing well has made me feel great and made me want to do even better.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In regards to structure, there is one thing I would like to change, which is when the training occurs, I believe the dates of the training should be changed to a more suitable time for the apprentices so that it does not conflict with their project work. This is currently the issue for me as I am having many training sessions coming up, whilst away at training I will be missing much work at project which will hinder my progress here, something my manager is also concerned about.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a good amount of support from our training provider, the tutors I have had for training sessions have actually been quite helpful and concerned about our progress, they always are ready to help when I do not understand anything, not just me or anyone from Accenture, but also other apprentices who are present in the training courses.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive much support from our employers also, as apprentices we have been given guide lines to follow for work, for example to ensure we don't work more hours unless we are willing to. It is not compulsory to have to compensate the project if they are asking to. I was once asked to come in at 3am, which I was not comfortable with, I spoke with my peoples advisor and they said that I do not have to accept as it is not part of my contract, this made me feel quite supported.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary is actually alright, although we would all like it to increase, who wouldn't want their salary to increase? Id say for our level it is balanced quite well, as well as the benefits we receive. Overall, yes I would say I am happy with the salary/Package it is very accommodating.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside work, such as having project 'LIFE AT' which is like extra curricular in a sense. There are many social events provided by work themselves as well as opportunities outside the workplace, which can be found by networking with other employees and meeting other groups of friends. Even many charity opportunities are available.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Accenture to a friend, because of the exciting things that they offer to apprentices. At the age of 18 I am doing things that I would have never ever dreamed of. I have been beyond belief at times during my apprenticeship, always being grateful for this opportunity I have been given. This scheme is always changing and becoming better I believe. Definitely recommend Accenture to many young people, especially school leavers, who would like to see their lives change for the better.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • I think what got me into Accenture was my passion to work within technology as well as my motivation to want to succeed in life. Being myself was the best choice I made, as I was able to connect with my interviewers and able to get to know them during the short time I had with them. I gave of good impressions by being dressed smart at all times during the interviews etc as well as having a good mannerism and most importantly having a smile on my face and being calm and relaxed.
