  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a migration scheduling analyst. Day to day this involves consolidating and analysing active directory and HR data to schedule users for migration. I interact daily with my line manager and other members of the migration workstream along with others working on my project with AD dependent workstreams. I also interact with the client in different countries to validate the user schedules that i create. I am responsible for determining which users need to be migrated

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new excel skills including using formulas such as vlookups and countifs which have been really helpful for automation. I have also written a couple of powershell scripts which is a completely new skills as I had never done any powershell before. in addition I have learnt how to read and understand python and am now able to run phyton scripts to determine overlapping IP addresses for the client. This has a helpful skill for my understanding of my network modules in my degree

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. The work is interesting and well recognised. I always try to complete tasks to the best of my ability and I always received recognition when I do this. The team I work within are very including and supportive I am not treated any differently as an apprentice. We regularly go for team lunches and after work events such as crazy golf, theatre, escape rooms. Accenture has exceeded all expectations that I had and I am so pleased I picked an apprenticeship with them. Can't wait to see what the future will hold.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • Even though I am the youngest in my team I feel immensely valued I run calls and head up my own initiatives and ideas. I am internally recognised through internally thank you events and received performance achievements bonus points for working hard.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • With the network engineering degree apprenticeship being a new scheme at Accenture there is of course things that could be restructured and improved as with every new scheme. However, the runners of the scheme are always asking for our feedback. We get a lot of support as apprentices and there is always someone to talk to about whatever problem you have. The first couple of weeks of induction were very well organised and allowed all the new apprentices to get to know each other very well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • This is very mixed across modules. Each modules has a different module tutor who has a different way of supporting and teaching you. We also have a skills advisor who remains the same and they are always happing to jump on a call and discuss any problems you might be having.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager on my project is always checking how I am doing with the workload and makes sure I can manage the work and degree commitments. The network lead on my project gives me a one on one lesson on networks/whatever else I want to cover each week which is a big help for my degree and any extra qualifications I want to work towards. I also have a career councillor who gives me training tips and advice preparing me for promotion once I finish the apprenticeship. My buddy and I regularly speak to make sure I am enjoying every aspect of my role.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Accenture offer a competitive salary. I travel into the office 2/3 days a week and my salary more than meets those needs. The rest of the week I work from home which also allows me to save a little more money but also allows flexible working. All team and social events are covered by Accenture so don't be expected to buy a round out of your own salary. I still live at home currently so I have no accommodation fees. This mean I have more than enough each month to save and go out and enjoy myself with my friends at the weekends. Also since joining the apprenticeship in September 2017 we have already received a pay rise.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Most weeks there is a project or internal event this allows me to regularly network with new people. You are allowed three charity days a year to volunteer for a chosen charity if you wish. There are lots of different sports clubs which is a great way to meet new people.

  • Yes

  • The working culture is really supportive and I am so glad I have started my career with Accenture on a degree apprenticeship I would recommend everyone else to as well.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • For the online application in your CV rather than just stating what skills you have, explain how you got them and what you have learnt from the process. For the interview remember you don't have to be a wiz at IT. You're joining an apprenticeship to learn so don't pretend you know it all already. Expressing your true passion for technology is key.
