  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Service Introduction: Includes planning for a release along with documentations supplying which projects are going live in the releases. Setting up meetings with my team and senior managers. Checking defects everyday, to make sure that they are fixed in time for when the project goes live. Chasing people for answers to make sure we have all the correct information in all the documents.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Communication is key within my role to talk with other colleagues to make sure we receive the correct information. I have became more confident to speak up if I feel something make be incorrect or suggest new ideas within my team. I have developed new programming skills through online training courses and from boot-camp, which we were providing before we started are roles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the team I am in as they have been very welcoming and helpful to me when joining. If I am not understanding anything, they will help me straight away whilst sitting and explaining it to me till I fully understand. I enjoy the work that I am doing when there is a lot to do as it keeps me busy. However, it can be quiet when there is hardly anything for me to do so it can be very boring and not enjoyable. It is not what I thought it would be a, I thought it would be constantly busy and more interesting. I do sometimes enjoy it, when there is work to do.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I do get a lot of recognition from my manager, who will praise me if I do something well, which is very positive to me so I know what I am doing is right. I feel sometimes that the higher management do look down on apprentices, thinking they can say or do what they want towards us, which is not a nice feeling at all. When completing tasks or doing volunteering work, I do feel valued as we get thank you emails which means I am getting recognised for helping the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme wasn't well organised. We didn't start college till 7 months into the apprenticeship when we were meant to start straight away, and the college tutors didn't even know this, badly communicated. The training support was fine with having boot-camp for 6 weeks, and then leading onto the role I am on now. We did have support there who would reach out and set us meetings where we could attend if we had any problems.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We do receive guidance from are tutor if we have any problems, we are able to go to them. Also it is very easy to get in touch and quickly see them if it is urgent. They do provide a positive attitude and will make time for you if you need it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive a lot of support from my manager as well if I have problem I can rely on them a lot to help me, which they are then able to fix. I also get a positive attitude from them when they are supporting me. They also give me good guidance when I need it, which makes me feel better.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary massively helps me each month pay for travel costs, living costs, social costs and everyday life. This has made the apprenticeship better having this type of wage.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • They to provide opportunities outside of work, just not enough. They do provide company events that they have each year around Christmas, which is a great experience as it gives you a chance to meet new people. They don't have a lot of company activities that include my team, which I think they should start doing as it gives a chance for a team building experience. They also do provide volunteering opportunities which I have participated in a lot, such as going to schools talking about the apprenticeships, campaigns for Accenture.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It Is a good way to meet new people and experience full time working. The salary is good to be on for first year, which goes up each year as you progress. Also by being able to take part in the opportunities that are being presented by the company.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • It may not be what you think it is at the start, but the more time you spend and get settled in the easier and more enjoyable it becomes. The interview process was very chilled and relaxed but wouldn't stress to much about it, and just enjoy the experience that you are given. I would like to be told that you don't automatically get a role straight away.
